6th Traditional Karate ITKF European Cup ORLEN 2014
Intercontinental Kumite Cup: USA – Brazil – Europe – Poland
14 June 2014 – Stara Wies (Poland)
The 6th Traditional Karate European Cup ORLEN 2014 took place on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre “Dojo-Stara Wies” in Poland. In this great event competed a superb collection of elite traditional karate athletes from 8 countries: Armenia, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. 8 top European men’s and 8 women’s traditional karate athletes were selected by the ITKF Technical Committee.
Hosted by the Traditional Karate Federation of Poland, this significant traditional karate event had as Honorary Patron the Polish Minister of Sport and Tourism Andrzej Biernat and Marshal of the Lodzkie voivodship Witold Stepien. As well, the Embassy of Japan took Honorary Patronage over the competition.
The competition proceeded at the very high technical level.
In the Women’s final match, Justyna Marciniak (Poland) was victorious by beating an experienced athlete Małgorzata Zabrocka (Poland). Justyna Marciniak was the winner of European Cup for the 3 times in her career. Maria Depta (Poland) and Natalia Vyerloka (Russia) fought for 3rd Place, which was won by Maria Depta.
In the Men’s final match, Damian Stasiak (Poland) defeated his friend from national team Lukasz Radwanski (Poland). Ukraine’s Vladimir Pucha took 3rd Place by beating Narek Iskandaryan from Armenia.
The 6th Traditional Karate European Cup ORLEN 2014 took place in conjunction with the Intercontinental Kumite Cup which was attended by the Kumite Teams from Brazil, Europe, USA and Poland (the Host). The winner was team from Poland. Brazil team took 2nd Place by beating team from USA.
During the tournament Shinichi Ogawa (5 Dan) from Japan together with instructors and athletes from Polish Kendo Federation performed the Kendo demonstration.
