Senator Hirofumi Nakasone with the official visit in the Ministry of Sport and Turism of the Republic of Poland
SENATOR HIROFUMI NAKASONE WITH THE OFFICIAL VISIT IN THE MINISTRY OF SPORT AND TOURISM OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND
On 7 July 2008 Minister of Sport and Tourism Mr. Miroslaw Drzewiecki hosted Mr. Hirofumi Nakasone – Japanese Senator, Chairman of the Parliamentary Polish – Japanese Group, former Minister of Education, Science, Sport and Culture. The appointment took place at the seat of the Minsitry in Warsaw.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with well developed Polish-Japanese economic co-operation and agreed it is time for more intensive works as regards sport and tourism.
Senator reminded that in 2009 the official opening of the Japanese Martial Arts and Sports Centre "Dojo-Stara Wies" is planned. He pointed out that this event should be joined with the central ceremony of the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Japan.
Senator Nakasone made a presentation showing efforts that Japan is making to obtain the right to host big international sport events, such as the 2016 Olympic Games for which Tokyo is the official candidate (decision of IOC will be made next year). Japan is also trying to be the host of the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in 2015.
Taking into consideration Japanese experience in hosting such events as summer Olympic Games (1964), winter Olympic Games (1998) or the World Cup in Soccer (2002), the support from the Japanese institutions in actions connected with preparations to the 2012 EURO is highly desired.
Both sides emphasized readiness and necessity of intensive mutual tourist promotion of Poland and Japan.
