Polish female competitors met in Warsaw yet again following the fight for the world championship in October, in Vilnius. A dynamic final duel for the European cup was won by Justyna Marciniak. After the fight she said: “I am really glad I have managed to beat Marta. The last time we met was in the fight for the world championship. Fighting with her I can learn a lot. I will never give up in a fight and I will always try to fight to the end”. The third place was taken by Mariya Baryshnykova from Ukraine – the reigning fuku-go world champion. Ilona Sakowicz took the fifth place.
The men’s final was just as exciting. In the final Daniel Iwanek – world champion in fuku-go, the winner of the second edition of the European cup, competed with Lukasz Wojcik – world vice-champion in team kumite. The European cup was won by Lukasz Wojcik. “I have been in good form ever since the world championships. I have been rested today and I fought more maturely. It is always hard to fight with Daniel, as he is an all-round fighter” – Lukasz Wojcik summed up his participation. The third place among men was taken by the Ukraine team member Vladimir Pucha.
During the competition, there was also a show by young competitors from Warsaw and the Lublin region, conducted by Andrzej Maciejewski, who presented their skills and fitness.
