The annual International Traditional Karate Seminar Gasshuku 2009 took place between 11 and 16 of August 2009 in Sopot (Poland).
This-year Gasshuku was held by the world top Traditional Karate Masters: sensei Avi Rokah 6 Dan ITKF from Los Angeles (USA) who is a student and assistant of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama; sensei Włodzimierz Kwiecinski 7 Dan ITKF who is a chief coach of the national team of Poland, Chairman of Traditional Karate Federation of Poland, Vice-President of the International Traditional Karate Federation and European Traditional Karate Federation and also sensei Krzysztof Neugebauer 5 Dan ITKF who is three times winner of the ITKF World Cup, world champion in team kumite, repeated medallist of the ITKF World and the European Championships in team kata.
The seminar gathered 350 participants from Poland and abroad: Austria, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, Russia, and United States of America. Gasshuku gave opportunity to re-learn Budo principles and fundamentals and at the same time build up further technical abilities.
During the 2009 Gasshuku masters were using a unique program created by the ITKF for the 2009 Summer Camp in San Diego. Program incorporates new Traditional Karate training system and competition based on Budo philosophy and fundamentals.
This program gave participants a deeper understanding of Budo and increased their technical skills. They are better prepared to demonstrate Traditional Karate in their own countries and explain its values in human development and as an educational physical art.
The various coursers were run during the seminar. Sensei Avi Rokah held the specialized kumite course (among others Impact, Un-Soku and application of Un-Soku), sensei Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski held among others kata course (Bassai Dai, Ji-On, En-Pi) and training system of forms, and sensei Krzysztof Neugebauer held competition training with athletes from the national team of Poland and others (Todome Waza, Sen – application, Gono-Sen – application).
