Festival World Karate-Do Renaissance, October 14-15, 2016, Cracow (Poland)
Festival World Karate-Do Renaissance took place on October 14-15, 2016 in TAURON Arena Cracow. For the first time in the history it was the multi-style karate tournament in the extraordinary city, city of Renaissance – Cracow in Poland. The competition was attended by representatives of diverse schools of karate-do in the world.
In one place and at the same time the great karate tournaments were held: World Traditional Karate Championships Cracow ORLEN 2016, 23th European Fudokan Karate-Do Championship, Koshiki karate tournament Super Karatedo WGP and World Traditional Karate Children’s Cup.
In this prestigious event competed more than 2 thousand outstanding karate practitioners from 38 countries from all over the world.
Mr. Lech Wałesa, former President of Poland, Peace Nobel Price recipient, the legend of “Solidarity”, took the Honorary Patronage under the event.
The decision to organize such a great event in Cracow was not accidental. The Festival was held under the name of World Karate-Do Renaissance and that is why the tournament took place in Cracow – the city which was an important centre of art and culture of the Renaissance.
“We met here in Krakow – a true city of Renaissance – at the Festival World Karate-Do Renaissance. Karate, which is the way of education, is connecting us. This is not just a sport, it’s not just a friendship, it’s much more – I feel that we are a big family” – said Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski, President of the World Traditional Karate-Do Federation – during the opening ceremony.
Mr. Ilija Jorga, President of World Fudokan Federation, said: „We are creating the history. I am happy it is happening in Poland. I remember, that Hidetaka Nishiyama Sensei always supported karate in Poland. I am full of respect for your country.”
The tournament was ended by the ultimate match between the finalists of WTKF World Championships and WFF European Championships. Team of Poland – traditional karate world champions, was victorious by beating team of Romania – Fudokan European champions.
The tournament was watched by enthusiasts of this martial art, who arrived to Cracow from different corners of the world. And they did have strong reasons to be glad as the bar for the final fights was set to the highest standards.
There were a lot of great emotions and huge applause coming from all the enthusiasts of the beautiful art of karate.
