Traditional Karate Federation of Poland (TKFP) is the governing body of traditional karate in Poland. It is estimated that in our country there are approx. 30 thousands people practicing traditional karate. TKFP has got about 200 member clubs and sections in all regions of Poland.
The principal aim of TKFP is popularization of traditional karate, spreading the values and benefits of the Japanese Budo and all its aspects. Virtues flowing from practicing of Budo make invaluable impact on education and health.
International activities of TKFP
- TKFP is a member federation of the World Traditional Karate-Do Federation (WTKF) seated in Geneva (Switzerland) and the European Traditional Karate Federation (ETKF) seated in Milan (Italy).
- Representatives of the TKFP are actively involved in the works of international authorities; Mr. Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski, Chairman of the TKFP is the President of the WTKF and Vice-President of the European Traditional Karate Federation (ETKF).
- Polish national team members are among the top world’s top athletes; for years they have been winning a number of medals at the world and European championships.
- Our athletes, judges and instructors have been constantly working on their self-improvement and upgrading their skills.
Awards
2001 – Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski, chairman of the TKFP awarded with Silver Cross of the Order of Merit of Republic of Poland – state award conferred by the President of Republic of Poland – for his contribution to development of traditional karate and great coach achievements.
2003 – TKFP received the Fair Play 2002 award from the Polish Olympic Committee for “behaviour of the audience in accordance with a fair play rule during traditional youth competition as well as during the Traditional Karate World Cup in Warsaw and the European Cup in Lodz”.
2003 – TKFP received the Fair Play award from the Polish Sport Confederation for excellent organization of traditional karate tournaments, ecsuring security to all participants of the events and cultural behaviour of the audience during the Traditional Karate World Cup Prokom 2003.
2012 – Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski, chairman of the TKFP awarded with Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette bestowed by the Emperor of Japan for his steadfast dedication to his study and pursuit of the concept of Budo which lies at the heart of the traditional karate.
2012 – Wlodzimierz Kwiecinski, chairman of the TKFP awarded with Golden Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland – state award conferred by the President of Republic of Poland – on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of traditional karate in Poland for his contribution to development of this martial art in Poland.
Organization of international events
The TKFP hosted a number of prestigious international events in Poland:
- ITKF world championships (Pruszkow, Warszawa 1998; Lodz 2012),
- three times European championships (Lodz 1992, 1999; Rzeszow 2006),
- all editions of the World Cup and the European Cup since 2001.
The organization of all above events was highly estimated by the international authorities.
Investments, projects
- Japanese Martial and Sports Centre “Dojo – Stara Wies”; the investment being realized in a village Stara Wies in the Lodzkie Voivodship.
- The TKFP is planning a new project professional traditional karate centers in major cities of Poland.
